Kate Merkle, MSW, MPH, RD, LDN, CDWF
Owner, Registered Dietitian Nutritionist & Certified Daring Way Facilitator™
I believe recovery from disordered eating is possible. For over 15 years I have been helping people heal their relationship with food. I specialize in the nutritional treatment and body attunement for individuals struggling with disordered eating & body image issues. I have completed extensive training in the field of eating disorders and have worked in hospital settings, various levels of treatment, and private practice. I believe self nourishment is key in maintaining or improving one's health.
I take a holistic approach when working together to get you unhooked from disordered eating patterns & negative body image concerns.
I do this work in order to help my clients live a flourishing life. A life full of vitality, physical well being, meaning and connection. I use a strength based approach and draw from principles of Appetite Awareness Training, Health At Every Size, Intuitive Eating, Acceptance Commitment Therapy, Motivational Interviewing, Dialectical Behavioral Therapy, and Cognitive Behavioral Therapy.
Research has shown that the therapeutic relationship is essential for change and growth. Together we will work to define your destination and cultivate the skills and perspectives to get you progressing on your path in the direction of true recovery. I incorporate my experience along with the wisdom of the client and work to build rapport over time. Keeping with the theme of evidence based practice, assessment is always ongoing. This allows us to remain focused on your goals in treatment. It also allows us to track progress and/or course correct as needed. I continually educate myself of current research in medical nutrition therapy bringing this information into my practice and incorporating it into our therapeutic relationship. It gives me great fulfillment to guide clients through the nourishment part of the recovery process, while identifying goals that bring about personal development.
